About the tutor
Shinta is an Indonesian native speaker who has been teaching Indonesian language in three countries (Indonesia, Singapore and Australia). In Australia she worked as a tutor at the ANU , Sydney University and CIT Solutions for students who work for the Australian government in Canberra. She started teaching Indonesian in 1998. She got a bachelor in business management from a university in Indonesian and obtained her Master of Arts degree in Southeast Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore and the Australian National University. Currently she is a full time IT student at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
What her previous students say about her:
“I have been studying Indonesian as part of a university degree since January 2007. Shinta has tutored me since about March 2007 and still tutors me today albeit from a distance now.
I am not sure how long you have been learning Indonesian, or if you have learnt any other language but I believe it is very difficult without the benefit of a tutor. I very highly recommend Shinta. She is a very reliable, capable and competent tutor. I wouldn't have had the success in uni without her assistance. I believe you'll find her well worth the cost and time and effort. I think you will also find you learn far quicker with a tutor who can explain difficult concepts and rules that can be hard to understand.” - Morgen
“In Oct-Dec 2005, I undertook bahasa Indonesian training through the AFP College in Canberra, Shinta Benilda was my language trainer. I commenced the language program known as ' The Indonesian Way' which is the course for ANU students starting bahasa Indonesian at ANU. I did 3 to 4 hours per day for 2 months during this period. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had Shinta as my language teacher
Shinta is a very experienced language teacher having worked both at a university in Sydney, at ANU and prior to coming to Australia she taught Indonesian to the Singapore military for several years. She also has excellent English which is obviously important too.
Shinta is a really great language teacher, not only due to her language teaching skills but also her drive and enthusiasm as a teacher to develop you as the student. She took me through the first year of the ANU Indonesian course plus supplemented this study with extensive conversation practise and individually prepared exercises.
I studied with another teacher for a short time after Shinta left Canberra and have had further lessons since coming to Jakarta and I can assure you that Shinta has set a very high standard which I have not found with any other teachers since.” Ralph
“I am happy to recommend Shinta to you as a language teacher. To put it simply Shinta's classes were excellent. She put a great deal of effort into preparation for classes and did a fantastic job ensuring her classes were tailored to what I needed (both in terms of language level and the type of language I needed to learn for my job). She went out of her way to obtain materials for me and the materials that she used were the most up to date and relevant that I received from any teacher over the 14 months I spent on full-time language training. Shinta is a very enthusiastic teacher and if I was to do any further language training Shinta would be at the top of my list." Justin
