Date Listed: 02/06/2008 If you are heading to the UK and fancy playing rugby union in the worlds most famous club rugby shirt, then head for South West London and join us at Harlequin Amateurs.Whatever your standard, whether you are after playing some serious rugby or are just keen for the craic you'll find a very warm welcome at Harlequin Amateurs. Just off the back of winning promotion to Herts / Middx Div 1, Harlequin Amateurs are on the look out for new players of all abilities for next season (08/09).It's a great time to come and get involved in the club, with the 7's season now under way and of course being a rugby club we socialise ALL summer. Coming up there is Touch Rugby every Saturday, 7's tournaments, Dragon Boat Racing, a Dodgeball tournament, Harlequin Players Cricket team plus several other events - all before we get down to the nitty gritty of preparing for next season. Pre Season starts in Teddington, SW London (by far the nicest part of London!!) in Mid July - this season we have engaged a 'Full On' fitness instructor to ensure that we start the season fitter than ever! Our 1st and 2nd XV play in very competitive leagues, our 3's play friendly fixtures vs. local sides and the vets side who play approx 10 games per season. Whatever your standard – we have a team for you. Training is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm, St Mary's University on Waldergrave Road in Teddington. Our coach is without doubt one of the best young coaches in the area and the training sessions he runs are hard but enjoyable (honest!). We also benefit from regularly having guest coaches from the ranks of the Harlequin professional side taking training sessions. What’s more we have a physio and masseuse in attendance to sort out any niggles. There is at least 35 players at each training session including a number who have come via Gumtree [these guys are all are glad that they read and responded to this advert – we’re sure you will be too].
